Humanistic Management: Philosophical Orientations for People and Organisations
摘要
The first chapter focuses on the importance of human values and virtues in management. The author argues that the contemporary economic system, which only marginally considers these aspects, is the cause of many of the social and ecological crises that humanity is facing. The author emphasises the need for a more humanistic approach to management, which places the promotion of human virtues and values at the centre of organisational culture. According to the author, this approach is not naive or unrealistic but recognises the relevance of human virtues in improving business performance and promoting cooperation. The chapter also discusses the limitations of traditional management education, which has historically relegated ethical considerations to the margins of business practice. The author argues that this approach has contributed to the social and ecological problems we see today and that a new approach to management education is needed. Overall, the chapter emphasises the importance of humanistic management in creating sustainable and socially responsible businesses and presents a call to action for a new vision of management that prioritises human values and virtues.
