摘要

We are currently entering an exciting new era of radio astronomy requiring major advancements in our handling, processing and archiving of the significant volumes of data expected. Such leaps would not be possible without understanding and learning from the instruments that have gone before. Following from the discussion of the general scientific and computational challenges of radio astronomy, in this chapter we present a description of the data processing hardware and software implementations specific to a collection of major current, upgraded and developing radio interferometers. This covers a range of antenna and dish-based instruments through from single site facilities to large distributed radio arrays. We discuss each of the facilities in turn, highlighting the main challenges that drive the choices of their data processing and archiving implementations.
