Enabling Artificial Intelligence on IoT Edge: Smart Approaches and Solutions for Providing Remote Dental and Medical Services

Recently, adapting the concepts of artificial intelligence, edgecomputing, and internet of things (IoT) has been proven to rapidly improve the healthcare in different sectors and provide better services, especially during pandemics. With enough storage and computing abilities, the usage of IoT edge computing devices that can be located in remote places for collecting and processing data would help in making decisions and executions in real time at the network edge with no or minimal human intervention and a very limited support from any other network part. However, due to the limited computing capability of these edges, combining the artificial intelligence with these technologies would be very challenging, particularly when directing this combination to figure out smart approaches and solutions for providing remote dental and medical services while converting those challenges into opportunities. This proposed work throws light on the approaches, technologies, and challenges and finally suggests some solutions that are involved in using AI for IoT edge computing systems, including IoMT and IoDT. By the end of this work, a researcher will have a comprehensive knowledge, which will help in deciding what should be considered to successfully enable artificial intelligence on IoT edge.
