Magnetic Action at a Distance: Fields, Gradients and Currents in Fluids
摘要
A brief introduction to the main concepts that underpin the interaction of magnetic fields with fluids is given. The effect of the main magnetic force densities, the Kelvin force in a magnetic field gradient and the Lorentz force in magnetohydrodynamics is discussed. The focus lies on incompressible fluids that are enclosed by solid walls such as are prevalent in microfluidic systems. These are only influenced by rotational body forces.
