Social Service Providers Working in Mental Health and Addiction Services: Burnout During the COVID-19 Pandemic

  • Hellen Gateri

摘要

This study examined the challenges experienced by social service providers in Edmonton, AB, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Results indicated that providers working in mental health and addiction services experienced burnout and mental health outcomes related to COVID-19. We recommend integrating transformative changes such as collaboration between social services agencies and integrating trauma-informed training into service agencies and social work education to prepare students and new workers for the realistic aspects of working in the field and provide them with the necessary skills to balance their family lives, academic work, mental health, and addiction work.
