Disrupting Truth in Theory Production in the Shadow of COVID-19

This chapter attempts to look at the role of theory during pandemic to start asking other questions that may help us rethink the world we live in. It looks at the challenges faced by Black and queer communities to start asking alternative questions that may help engage with the pandemics in ways that are ethical and political. We look at the way the world that is rational was enhanced and made real through death and forgetting Black and queer bodies. In this context, we employ Butler question of which bodies get to be accounted for and what metric of accounting is employed to discount the trauma and pain of Black and queer communities, more so during Covid-19, when we were mediated to normalize which kinds of bodies were to be lost for us to return to normal. It is, therefore, the intention of this chapter to reimagine this kind of quantification of pandemics as equally a form of social genocide and necropolitical. Necropolitics will help drive our understanding of the ways in which some bodies, just because of who they are, must be thought of as living on the edges of death and life. That their life is equally their point of death.
