MHD Channel Flows

In this chapter, the steady MHD flow equations are solved using the BEM with the fundamental solution of coupled MHD equations. Applications include pressure driven or electrically driven MHD flows in ducts and infinite regions, respectively. All kinds of velocity (no-slip or slip) and induced magnetic field boundary conditions are considered emphasizing partly insulated–partly conducting walls. The convergence of infinite integrals and the computation of the thickness of parabolic boundary layers are shown. Numerical results are discussed for increasing values of Hartmann number and types of wall conditions.
