Prevention of Knee Injuries in Soccer Players

Knee injuries are common among soccer players and can cause further labor loss, physical disabilities, and mental disorders. Health and sports authorities must take every action to make soccer a safer sport. Injury incidence and severity are the two main notions for the development of injury prevention strategies for knee injuries. Competition, previous injuries, and female gender are the leading risk factors for knee injuries. To shed light on the contributing risk factors by the researchers for knee injuries in soccer players is another necessary step for injury prevention. Exercise programs, education of athletes, and coaches are the main injury prevention strategies in practice. The collaboration of researchers, policymakers, leaders, and managers in soccer and other related organizations is imperative to protect the current and future health of players.
