The Multiligamentous Knee Injury
摘要
Multiligament knee injuries (MLKIs) are a rare, yet devastating, heterogenous group of traumatic injuries that are characterized by damage to at least two of the four major ligaments in the knee. Oftentimes they are associated with knee dislocations and concomitant injuries to neurovascular, osseous, and other cartilaginous structures. Management includes initial traumatic assessment followed by reduction and subsequent operative intervention to stabilize injured ligaments and other damaged structures. Studies have shown the benefits of surgical treatment for these injuries. However, due to their serious nature, patient reported outcomes of all MLKIs have proven significantly worse than comparative population norms. The purpose of this chapter is to provide an overview of MLKIs including associated injuries, management strategies, surgical techniques, and post-operative rehabilitation based on the current evidence.
