Capsuloligamentous Knee Corners and Cruciate Ligament Functional Interdependence
摘要
The anterior (ACL) and posterior (PCL) cruciate ligaments function in synergy with peripheral capsuloligamentous structures. This chapter discusses how peripheral capsuloligamentous dysfunction can change knee biomechanics, compromising native or reconstructed cruciate ligament health, potentially leading to reconstruction or repair failure. These functional relationships also influence meniscus and articular cartilage health. Capsuloligamentous structural integrity should be considered when knee rehabilitation and conditioning programs are being planned after ACL or PCLPosterior cruciate ligament (PCL) reconstruction or repair. Early intervention to attenuate the pathomechanics of faulty sports movement loading patterns and the potential influence of protective internal or external functional knee bracing should be considered before the athlete advances to sports-specific training and return to sports decision-making.
