Rehabilitation and Return to Play Decision-Making After Hip or Groin Injury and Surgery
摘要
Hip and groin pain is common among athletes, especially in multidirectional sports. Injuries to the hip and groin include everything from acute muscle strains to chronic pain developed from the hip joint. Due to the complex anatomy of the hip and surrounding tissue, differential diagnostics is difficult and the correct diagnosis is critical. The Doha agreement suggests we divide the hip- and groin-related injuries into entities. However, regardless of the underlying cause of hip pain, the athlete is usually eager to return to sports and correct management is key. Active rehabilitation is critical and suggested for effective management and to eventually return to sports regardless of diagnosis. Surgery is in general only an option after a period of rehabilitation.
