摘要
Pain in the hip/groin is one of the most common injuries faced by athletes. The hip joint is in close relation with, and affected by, the pelvis, lumbar spine, and lower extremities. This makes hip/groin pain in the athlete complex with several differential diagnosis that often have similar presentations, as well as the fact that the pain is frequently due to multiple concurrent lesions. To make proper diagnostic and treatment decisions, a thorough evaluation of history and physical examination, as well as understanding the common causes of hip/groin pain in athletes, is important. This chapter focuses on background information, history taking, physical examination, and common injuries in athletes with hip/groin pain.
