The stability, motor control, and strength of the musculature of the lumbo-pelvic region contribute to successful management of external forces and loads, the production of synchronous movements, and protection of the spinal column during low and high velocity movements. Static stability and dynamic movement control are especially important to athletes and must be considered in the context of training, rehabilitation, and return to sports participation. The purpose of this chapter is to focus on training the core for stability, strength, and high-level function in the context of return to sport rehabilitation.
