Leg Pain in Young Man with Diabetes

A 19-year-old male presented with the following symptoms: severe pain in both legs and lower abdomen. The patient had a history of poorly controlled type 1 diabetes for 15 years and had been non-compliant with his insulin regimen. Over the course of 3 months, the pain in his legs had worsened and was accompanied by weakness. He specifically mentioned that his thighs and hips felt weaker compared to his ankles.
