One Nation, Two Leaders: Foreign Policies of Heydar Aliyev and Suleyman Demirel
摘要
Heydar Aliyev and Suleyman Demirel were two outstanding leaders who molded the destiny of their countries during their tenures in power in which they enjoyed a harmonious relationship. Their common foreign policy vision, based on regional stability between the two leaders, in many ways laid the foundations for cooperation between Türkiye and Azerbaijan. In this study, four pillars that form the basis of this common vision are discussed: (1) economic integration and an energy strategy, (2) peace and stability through multilateral organizations, (3) peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and (4) treading a delicate balance between Russia and the West.
