摘要

Urban heat island (UHI) related heat stress and its association with human comfort were mainly conducted mainly in the temperate developed countries. Lack of researches in underdeveloped and developing countries has somehow created a gap in advancing the knowledge on UHI-related issues. Further, it is well acknowledged that the issue of human comfort to the heat stress is more relevant concerning the cities of tropical climate. Therefore, the investigations on the small and medium-sized tropical cities of third world countries become essential. This chapter tried to represent a systematic investigation of the existing researches to provide guidance. This study summarized all the factors that are selected by different studies into three groups i.e. socio-economic, health, and environment for better assessment. Finally, it tried to represent the strategies that can be followed to conduct UHI-related thermal comfort assessment in the small and medium-class tropical cities of the Global South.
