Spectrum Analyzer with FPAA

There was a need to create a low-power device to perform vibration analysis of periodically operating mechanical components. The equipment is a machining machine used in series production in the aluminum industry. Early detection and prediction of faults is important, as possible wear or malfunction can lead to significant production losses. The traditional method for detecting changes in aperiodicity in periodic rotating machines is to detect changes in the spectrum. For this purpose, a low-power solution used in which a combination of field programmable analog array (FPAA) and a microcontroller can achieve efficient results. In this paper, we present a simple microcontroller-based method with low power requirements, different from the commonly used FFT method.
