Efficient Management of Physical Infrastructure Networks

摘要

Network slicing is a promising technology for wireless networks to customize the resource utilization of infrastructures with respect to specific vertical requirements. Different verticals provide services with distinct and often conflicting requirements in terms of bandwidth, latency, and so on. Considering that vertical services may require resources offered by some particular providers, network slices allocated to verticals can stretch across multiple administrative domains and combine resources of different MNOs/InPs. The management and orchestration of such multi-domain slices require an efficient combination of federated resources. Hence, an on-demand cooperation strategy among multiple infrastructure networks is urged to fulfill the resource requirements of multi-domain slices. In this chapter, complex network theory is used to analyze the differences in the topology characteristics of infrastructure networks while the two-side matching is used to provide demand-oriented cooperation strategies. Based on the cooperation strategy, multiple infrastructure networks are combined into a federated infrastructure network to offer resources for multi-domain slices. Moreover, multilayer complex network model is adopted to depict the complicated interconnection among infrastructure networks and the deployment mappings between slices and infrastructure networks. To deploy the slices in the joint infrastructure network and allocate the multi-domain resources efficiently, a federated infrastructure management framework is also introduced.
