Sperm Bank Management Best Practices: US Experience

  • Jaime Shamonki

摘要

A best practices approach to sperm bank management considers the evolution and interdependency of numerous medical, ethical, legal, and cultural issues involved in donor conception. Sperm banks should consider factors such as sperm donor recruitment tactics and approach to donor compensation to optimize outcomes and the long-term well-being for both donors and the donor-conceived persons. Donor screening practices should be robust and accommodating of increasingly complex health information while anticipating such social dynamics that often result from a network of biological relationships existing outside of nuclear family and kinship. Sperm banks should be further prepared to receive and proactively manage new information arising long after donors leave the program, such as new health findings in the donor or donor-conceived persons or requests for contact between parties related by donor conception.
