Technical and Vocational Teaching in Transition

This conclusion presents some final thoughts on the discourse discussed in the various chapters of this book and highlights the issues that need to be given due consideration in relation to teaching using theoretically informed, methodologically sound, and empirically supported approaches in Technical and Vocational Teaching (TVET) colleges. This book demonstrates the theoretical framework for TVET and related pedagogy for preparing lecturers to teach in the technical and vocational education sector. Given the current stigmatisation of technical and vocational education in South Africa, there is a pressing need for research that is not only informed by practice, but is also specific to the context. This point cannot be over-emphasised given the critical need for technical and artisan skills in South Africa and beyond.
