摘要

Central venous catheters are widely used in chronically ill patients in need of long-term treatments. Oncology patients in particular benefit from the ease such lines offer for chemotherapy delivery and long-term administration of fluids, blood products, medications, parenteral nutrition and regular blood sampling. We present a case of recurrent ischemic strokes caused by emboli from a “Port-A-Cath” central venous access line incorrectly positioned in the ascending aorta occurring during chemotherapy.
