The Journal Urban Morphology and Jeremy Whitehand’s Comments
摘要
This chapter explores the correspondence between Jeremy Whitehand’s way of thinking and the development of urban morphology and ISUF. His Comments as the editor of Urban Morphology for 23 years provide an appropriate medium for such an inspection. While ISUF as the main institution of urban morphologists is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2024, it has been growing steadily in the main line corresponding to the basic attributes of Whitehand’s vision (institutionalization, internationalization, cooperation and integration, innovation, attentiveness, and communication). As Whitehand conceives sectional thinking and fragmentation as the main problems in the development of urban morphology, its future would be open to enhancement through an integrated approach.
