Conflict About Pensions in Chile: Construction and Development of a Social Movement

Chile’s so-called estallido social began in October 2019. It differed from the social movements of the previous decade in that it was inorganic, on a mass scale, and without clear leaders. However, despite its inorganic nature, certain demands emerged from among the numerous expressions of citizen discontent. They included, prominently, an end to the country’s pension system.
