The Social Construction of Managerial Solutions to Political Problems

  • Suddhabrata Deb Roy

摘要

Employee well-being has come to be recognised as one of the central concerns of most organisations globally. Most organisations employ and spend significant financial resources on human resource professionals to ensure the same. However, most of the strategies that the human resource professionals follow remain entrapped within the conventional profit-oriented management practices. Well-being, on the contrary to what is popularly practised, is a critical concept which has to engage deeply with the IT workers not only individually but also socially. This chapter relates the concept of well-being within the IT sector in India as is practised by most companies to broader critical aspects of political and social theory and proposes that effective well-being can only come into being when the employees’ subjectivity becomes a part of the well-being strategies. The chapter argues that such practices promote further homogenisation and dehumanisation of the society leading to managerial solutions towards issues which require political interventions.
