The IT Society in India, Its Inhabitants, and Their Lives of Desperation

Information Technology today occupies an important position in the overall global circuits of capitalist accumulation, and as such has become a pivotal part of global capitalism. The introduction locates the growth of the IT sector in India in conjunction with the neoliberal restructuring of the society which has characterised India since the early 1990s. The chapter lays out a basic outline of the chapters that follow and summarises some of the key facets of the work.
