The Crisis of Teacher Preparation During the Early Pandemic Emergency and New Directions for Online Teacher Preparation
摘要
The onset of the 2020 pandemic highlighted unpredictable and evolving expectations for teachers and teacher educators. Immediate changes to online learning in complex systems created “impossible” teacher and teacher educator roles. Yet, as four teacher educators dedicated to humanizing online pedagogy, we recognize how we are always responding to shifting surroundings and contexts, which have the potential to open space for reflective and responsive practices. To this end, we wrote this chapter to draw attention to what we saw as polyprincipalities, or pervasive dynamisms, that held potential for reflexive practices. In this chapter, we reflect on the polyprincipalities surrounding online teacher education, wonder how teacher educators might revise instructional activities for online teacher preparation, and consider what supports the relinquishing or sharing of control to establish productive relational boundaries online with students and colleagues.
