Gender Issues and the Olympic Games

This chapter examines the history of female athletes in the Summer and Winter Olympic Games and uses participation rates and medals earned as a case study of how slow the process of gender equity has been for participants in the Olympics. A brief discussion of some challenges that still plague female Olympic athletes concludes the chapter.
