Pest and Diseases and Main Control Strategies in Italian Olive Groves

In Italy, the trend toward the adoption of protocols for control of diseases that have a low environmental impact has been promoted since 2014 through the PAN, National Plan for sustainable use of Defense Products. The hardest challenge at the moment is to bring together sustainability and fight against Xylella fastidiosa, the pathogen that has been undermining olive growth since 2013. For organic producers, Bactrocera oleae is the main issue to tackle, different control strategies are applied to address the problem.
