Integration of Landsat and Sentinel Data for Localized High-Resolution Monitoring of the Territory

In this contribution, we propose a joined use of optical satellite data achieved from Sentinel and Landsat platforms in order to achieve localized monitoring of some areas of interest with regard to the drought. This integration of data allows enhanced spatial and temporal resolutions to be fulfilled. In fact, for the quoted satellites, the pixel size is of the order of 20 or 30 m depending on the radiometer, and the interpolation of the temporal series allows an average time interval between two subsequent satellite images of the order of 2.5 days. A supervised multiband thresholding algorithm has been implemented for the cloud masking because only almost cloud-free images provide information of interest, which, in our case, is based on the NDVI spectral index.
