Distributed Collaborative AR on Cloud Continuum: A Case Study for Cultural Heritage

In this work we explore distributed and collaborative augmented reality (AR) and motion capture technologies in a Cloud Continuum context through a case study focused on cultural heritage. In particular, the main objectives of the project are the definition of different logical and physical architectures through the creation of architectural, sequence and component diagrams, the implementation of these applications through reference platforms and programming languages such as Unity and Python, and finally the identification of limits from a computational and network speed point of view. This aspect is crucial to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed solutions. The actual testbed was realized thanks to the support of a documentary exhibition, held at the Central State Archives in Rome, which provided the ideal environment for testing the developed applications.
