Groups and Covers

This chapter focuses on algebraic and topological properties of loops and graphs. Notions of universal cover and fundamental group are introduced. We show there is a one to one correspondence between geodesic (i.e. non backtracking) loops and conjugacy classes of the fundamental groups. Distributions of loop homotopy classes and homologies are studied. Galois covers which are intermediate between the graph and its universal cover are introduced.
