SDN Supported Network State Aware Command and Control Application Framework

Command and Control (C2) applications have particular performance requirements depending on their criticality. In a military operation scenario, network parameters frequently vary due to the harsh conditions of this environment. Thus, meeting application requirements is a challenge. This paper proposes a framework to address this challenge by employing a network state-aware approach in which the C2 applications tune the network to meet their requirements using Software Defined Networking orchestration combined with Information-Centric Networking mechanisms. The acquired results provide evidence of the success of the proposed approach in meeting the requirements to accomplish the mission.
