The 4-Bar Mechanism

This chapter focuses on the 4-bar mechanism and the use of vectors and trigonometry to solve for an unknown link as well as the linear and rotational velocity. In the next chapter we introduce Kennedy’s theorem as an alternative method for solving the unknowns. As in Chap. 3 for the in-Line and offset sliders, this approach represents a snap shot at a given angle (typically \(\theta _2\) ).
