A Collaboration Process for Developing Business Process Improvement Implementation Plans

An implementation plan must be created before business process improvement can be operationalized. The creation of a BPI implementation plan (BPIIPD) is a repetitive, knowledge-intensive, and skill-intensive process that necessitates the involvement of numerous stakeholders. Stakeholder involvement is, however, limited as a result of the existing BPIIPD techniques’ inability to facilitate stakeholder involvement in a condensed amount of time and at a cheap cost. Design science, pilot study, and walkthrough approaches were used to help construct a flexible, repeatable, predictable, and transferable BPIIP collaboration process (BPIIPD-CP) to fill the research gap. Without the use of a trained facilitator, the proposed artifact allowed the BPIIPD team’s non-skilled group members to construct the plan quickly, secure group buy-in, and improve effective communication. By eliminating facilitator fees, the artifact in this study reduced the costs associated with BPIIPD and offered a flexible method for accommodating various stakeholder needs during BPIIPD. Flexibility in taking into account contributions from stakeholders during BPIIPD allowed the plan to reflect the many needs and interests of stakeholders, which contributed to its effective implementation because of enhanced ownership.
