An Energy Consumption Model to Change the TBFC Model of the IoT
摘要
The IoT (Internet of Things) consumes plenty of electric energy since tremendous amount of sensor data is transmitted and processed. Fog nodes support application processes of sensor data in the FC (Fog Computing) model. Fog nodes are tree-structured to interconnect with devices as leaves and a server cloud as a root in the TBFC (Tree-Based FC) model for realizing the energy-efficient FC model. We discuss how to design a homogeneous TBFC (HTBFC) model composed of homogeneous fog nodes given application processes and size of sensor data from each device. In our approach, starting from a tree composed of a pair of a root server node and one leaf device node, i.e. CC (Cloud Computing) model, the HTBFC tree is obtained by adding fog nodes through applying three types of operations. If an operation is applied on a node, not only the node but also other nodes like the child nodes are also changed, which are affected nodes. First, a node most consuming energy is selected as a target node. Then, an operation by which the total energy consumption of all the affected nodes is most reduced is applied on the target node. In the evaluation, we show the energy consumption and delivery time of a CC model can be reduced in the HTBFC model obtained in the proposed algorithm.
