Influence of the New Environment on the Skin

Over the years, travel has increased enormously worldwide. All types of travellers including tourists, immigrants, and refugees can travel across the world for short or long period between countries with different climatic zones. A myriad of infectious and non-infectious skin disorders can be encountered in travellers due to the change in environment and climatic zone. The environmental factors inducing these skin disorders can be categorized into different groups, namely physical, biological/immunological, and social/cultural factors. We shall focus on skin disorders which are related to lack of adaptation to the new environment. We will also discuss specific (skin) disorders physicians should be aware of when treating these groups of travellers who undergo a change in climatic zone.
