The Innovative Influence of Industry 4.0 on the Textile Industry

  • Rui Dantas

摘要

This study aims to perform a bibliometric analysis on the burgeoning field of research at the intersection of Industry 4.0 and the textile industry. It seeks to identify and analyze the most influential contributions, chart the growth of literature over time, and discern the core research themes and potential gaps for future exploration. Utilizing bibliometric tools such as VOS viewer and Biblioshiny, this study systematically quantifies the research output, maps co-authorship and citation networks, and examines the thematic landscape through keyword co-occurrence analysis. The findings highlight a significant uptrend in research on the technological integration of Industry 4.0 within the textile sector. Key areas of focus include automation, IoT, and smart manufacturing, reflecting a paradigm shift towards more adaptive, predictive, and self-optimized production processes. The analysis also reveals a geographical concentration of research activity, particularly in Asia and Europe, with China and the UK leading in terms of output and international collaboration, respectively. Despite the technological emphasis, the study uncovers a relative scarcity in research on the socio-economic and environmental implications of Industry 4.0 applications in the textile industry. The article concludes with a call for future research to broaden the scope to encompass sustainability, economic, and policy perspectives, thereby enriching the current understanding of this industrial transformation.
