Pyramids and Burial Grounds
摘要
The description of the pyramids of Giza by Venetian travelers impresses with a precise analysis of ancient and contemporary sources (Belon, della Valle) and an empirical examination of the monuments. The accounts also show the importance of the visual and haptic, which is characteristic of the Venetian reception of Ancient Egypt. Moreover, Venetian travelers made valuable contributions to the empirical study of Ancient Egyptian monuments in Saqqara and Dahshur (pyramids and tombs).
