Conclusion

In this concluding chapter, we offer a five-step framework for enabling and embedding cultural sensitivity of curricula in higher education (HE), derived from lessons learned by authors of chapters in this book. These steps, presented as a reflective cycle, are: build commitment to action; equip staff with skills and knowledge; implement new practices; integrate new practices into business as usual; and celebrate successes and reflect on next steps. This conclusion is designed to complete the cycle. For each step, we draw out examples of successes from the book while reflecting on limitations that might be addressed in future cycles. We specifically consider the role of the Culturally Sensitive Curricula Scales (CSCS) and the Culturally Sensitive Curricula (CSC) Educator Self-Reflection Tool within the wider context of curricular reform.
