Synthesis and Characterization of Perovskite Nanocrystals

Recently metal halide perovskiteMetal halide perovskite (MHP) nanocrystals have come up as an excellent choice of materials for optoelectronic and photocatalyticPhotocatalytic applications. By taking advantage of the developed synthetic tools, stunning advancement has been made in terms of their compositional, structural, and optoelectronic control. Despite these progresses, significant challenges are there to precisely control their nucleationNucleation and growth processes, therefore a profound knowledge of the specific aspect of precursorsPrecursors and ligandsLigands will substantially reinforce the versatility in terms of the size, compositionCompositions, shape, and henceforth the useful properties of these fascinating materials. The comprehensive understanding and the optimization of the characteristics of these semiconducting materials require a sequence of experimental characterization techniques which includes analysis of the compositionCompositions, resolution of different unknown (nano)crystal phases, investigation of ligandsLigands that are attached to the surface, and inspection of the optical propertiesOptical properties to attain a comprehensive idea about the. All of these characterizations require specified state-of-the-art tools that are described in this chapter. Recent advancements in different post-synthetic strategies to tune surface chemistry and hence the properties of the materials are also highlighted here.
