Perovskite-Based Laser

The rapid development of lasers has played a crucial role in advancing not only traditional optics and nonlinear optics but also various fields within the natural sciences. Perovskite has emerged as a promising material for laser gain media due to its exceptional characteristics, including a high absorption coefficient, low trap density, high charge carrier mobility, and excellent photoluminescence quantum yield. To fully harness the potential of perovskite-based lasers and achieve electrically pumped laser functionality, careful attention must be given to the design and configuration of the device, as they play a crucial role in the overall performance. This chapter provides a detailed introduction to the components of lasers, specifically focusing on optical microcavities. It highlights the evolution of perovskite-based pulsed optically pumped lasers and continuous-wave optically pumped lasers with various cavity modes. Furthermore, the challenges and significant strides made towards electrically pumped perovskite lasers are addresses with emphasis.
