The Influence of Sociodemographic Variables on Worker Satisfaction
摘要
Considering that each individual has their own specificities and that job satisfaction is a personal experience that can be influenced by various factors, depending on their individual and contextual characteristics, the purpose of this study is to assess the influence of sociodemographic variables, such as age, gender, marital status, education level, length of service, employment contract, and professional category, on public sector workers’ satisfaction. This observation, conducted in different public organizations, revealed the presence of statistically significant differences based on gender, age, education level, length of service, employment contract, and professional category. The results indicated that the most satisfied workers are female, young, and have higher academic qualifications. Additionally, the study also indicated a negative relationship between worker satisfaction and temporal variables such as age, length of service, professional category, and employment contract. Methodology: The data obtained for this study were collected through a questionnaire, constructed according to the Likert scale (J Soc Psychol 5(2):228–238, 1934), self-administered and anonymous, and responded by 407 employees from 26 public organizations. For processing and analysis of the collected data the SPSS software (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) was used.
