An Overview of Language Processing

In this chapter, we introduce the reader to the field of natural language processing. We give examples of major applications as well as techniques we can use to implement them. We describe what makes natural language processing difficult and how to evaluate the performance of applications or algorithms. We outline the domains we will cover in this book.
