In his memoir cited above, Lee Kuan YewLee Kuan Yew (LKY), first Prime Minister of an independent SingaporeSingapore, previously a British colony, gives a first-hand account of the spectacular economic transformation of his country, within the span of a generation, from a poor country of fishing communities before Independence in 1965 to an industrialsed economy by the time he was ready to resign as Prime Minister in November 1990.
