Psychopharmacology of “As-Needed” Medications (PRNS) for Pediatric Agitation in Inpatient and Emergency Settings
摘要
Effective management of pediatric aggression and agitation is critical to ensure patient and staff safety in inpatient and emergency settings. Although “as-needed” medications (PRN) have been extensively prescribed for youth with severe agitation and aggression, there is very limited amount of published research data to guide this practice. In this chapter, we review and interpret existing data regarding commonly used PRN medications for pediatric agitation.
