Is There Anybody Out There? The Role of Relationships in Prison Governor Wellbeing

As previously identified in Chapters 1 – 4 , the prison working environment is not an ordinary one, with excessive workloads, exposure to trauma, high pressure, and little autonomy being experienced as the norm. To survive and thrive in such an environment it is vital that all those working in prison feel valued and supported, in short, that they feel there is someone out there for them.
