摘要

In this chapter, we analyze the intricacies of economic regulations and taxes, exploring their profound impact on business competitiveness. We stress the importance of understanding not only industry dynamics but also the tax context, which significantly affects business profitability. Our discussion revolves around various taxes that influence firms beyond corporate tax. Labor taxes are scrutinized for their corporate implications, highlighting the need for strategic planning. We introduce the concept of inflation tax, an indirect and regressive form of taxation that can erode the real value of companies’ and individuals’ assets. We also examine the informal economy, a sector that evades formal tax structures, presenting additional challenges for accurate economic assessment and competition. Finally, we incorporate insights on conducting business at the bottom of the pyramid and explore non-market actions through business chambers.
