Co-Authorship and Collaboration
摘要
This chapter deals with the co-authorship structure, used as a proxy indicator for collaboration to uncover the diverse types of collaboration prevalent among African authors. Collaboration types such as within Africa, outside Africa, Africa-South, Africa-North and Africa-Asia are examined. Not only the kinds of collaboration but also the factors that facilitate or impede collaboration are relevant. The chapter investigates the types and trends of collaboration in African sociology that have been prevalent over the last two decades. The relationship between the types of collaboration with relevant indicators of scientific publication is also investigated in the chapter. While analysing Africa’s international collaboration, the chapter identifies the key international partners of African sociologists which have significance for African sociology.
