摘要

Ebola viral disease (EVD) is globally known as a highly fatal and transmissible hemorrhagic fever that creates headlines with intimidating outbreaks. It is caused by infection with one of the ebolaviruses, harbored within a yet undiscovered reservoir in West, Central, and East Africa. Here we review Ebola’s viral characteristics and pathogenesis; clinical considerations for diagnosis, treatment, and care of survivors; and finally, management and prevention of outbreaks.
