Cytomegalovirus Infections in Hematopoietic Cell Transplant and Solid Organ Transplant Recipients

Cytomegalovirus is a common opportunistic infection in solid organ and hematopoietic cell transplant patients. The symptoms of patients with this infection can vary and target many organs. Delays in diagnosing and treating patients can increase morbidity and mortality. This chapter describes current studies and guidelines related to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of this disease.
